Window Tint FAQ

OC House of Tint is an authorized XPEL dealer and exclusively installs XPEL automotive window film. CS is a dyed film for shade and privacy; XR Black and XR Plus are the ceramic options for infrared heat rejection. All installations include a lifetime warranty on both film and labor.

If direct sun makes driving uncomfortable, ceramic tint can be a useful upgrade. XR Black and XR Plus help reduce infrared heat through the glass they cover. You can choose a lighter shade for more daylight or a darker shade for more privacy and glare reduction.

Depending on the film selected, ceramic tint provides up to 99% UV protection and up to 98% infrared heat rejection. UV protection and infrared rejection are different ratings; the infrared figure is not a reduction in total solar heat or cabin temperature. Results also depend on the shade, existing glass, and which windows receive film.

No. Shade describes how much visible light passes through the film. Ceramic technology adds infrared heat rejection, including in lighter shades. Compare the film for heat performance and choose the shade around glare, privacy, and the view you want.

Yes. We offer lighter ceramic windshield films to reduce infrared heat through the front glass. The shade affects brightness and glare, so we review both daytime comfort and your view at night before choosing coverage.

California allows some window tint, but front side windows and windshields have stricter requirements than rear glass. Front-window compliance depends on the film, the existing glass, and required documentation. Tell us which windows you want tinted so we can discuss the requirements for that coverage.

Front two windows usually take about 45 to 60 minutes. A full vehicle is generally about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the vehicle, the number of windows, and the level of installation complexity.

Average drying time is about 3 to 7 days, and it can take up to 2 weeks in colder weather. Small water bubbles are normal during curing.

Follow the pickup instructions for when to roll down and clean your windows; the timing depends on the installation and weather. After that waiting period, use a soft microfiber cloth and a cleaner suitable for window film. Contact the shop if you are unsure about the film’s appearance as it dries.

Yes. All XPEL film installed at OC House of Tint includes a lifetime manufacturer warranty and lifetime labor warranty with coverage against peeling, fading, bubbling, and discoloration.

Roof tint is optional. Existing glass protection and roof configurations vary, so we check the actual vehicle before recommending film. If overhead heat or brightness is already comfortable, you may not need additional coverage.
